The Center for New York City Law, a one-of-a-kind-program, disseminates information about New York City’s laws, rules, and procedures; sponsors publications, symposia, and conferences on city governance topics; and suggests reforms to make city government more effective and efficient.
Founded in 1994 by New York Law School Professor Ross Sandler, the Center seeks to make the City’s government and decisions more fair, comprehensible, and open to the public. The Center pursues its mission through scholarly research and writing and by widely disseminating information about New York City in accessible and easily understood formats.

For Students
All students are welcome to join the Center as affiliates. The Center helps students gain practical experience and build a network for future employment in government. Those interested in pursuing civic leadership are encouraged to apply.

The Center hosts the CityLaw Breakfast Series, which features prominent speakers discussing current government and political issues. See videos of past breakfasts. The Center also sponsors continuing legal education seminars and other lectures and trainings.
